First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at J.Crew Factory.
Fashion Designer
The company's communication and follow-up were poor. I was supposed to get a project portion of the interview but they ghosted me. I think it's dumb.
- Can you talk about your resume?
- What is your day to day like?
Sales Associate
I had a really positive experience interviewing for the Sales Associate role at J.Crew. The process felt warm and welcoming from start to finish—the store manager made it conversational rather than intimidating, and the questions were focused on getting to know my personality, customer-service style, and interest in the brand. I appreciated how genuine the team was; they took the time to explain the day-to-day responsibilities and what makes the store culture special, which made me even more excited about the opportunity. Overall, the interview left me with a great impression of the company and confirmed that J.Crew is a place where I could really enjoy contributing and growing.
- What is your biggest strength?
Designer
Went through several rounds meeting with at least 5 people from the team, presented a whole project in-person only to be ghosted and for them to promote internally. I would've at least appreciated a message saying that they would not be moving forward especially since the process took nearly 2 months. Their lack of communication and hearing how long it look for people to be promoted were their biggest red flags.
- What is your design process like and what's your favorite part?
Assistant Merchandiser
It was a pretty standard interview process. First, I had a call with a recruiter, and then I met with several people from the team I'd be joining. They were really clear about what they expected from the role. There was also a project that I had to present as part of one of the interview stages.
- Can you share an instance where a group project you were part of didn't turn out well?
