The whole process from applying to getting the job offer took about three weeks. I went through around three interviews in total: two over the phone and one in-person where I met with the hiring managers. The interviews went well. The time just flew by during the in-person meeting. The managers were really nice and made an effort to put me at ease, which can be tough in an interview setting.

The interview process kicks off with a phone screening by Corporate HR. If you make the cut, they'll likely tell you right away they're going to recommend you to the hiring manager. If not, you'll hear a 'we'll get back to you.' Things can vary with hiring managers. Some might do one in-person interview and then extend an offer within a week if you're the top candidate. Others might have you do another phone interview, then an in-person interview, and finally an offer if you pass everything. Just a heads-up, this company isn't for folks with substance abuse issues, as you'll be managing truck drivers who need to follow strict D.O.T. rules. Any hypocrisy on your part will destroy your credibility with them. You'll also need to pass a hair drug test to get an offer from J.B. Hunt.

I applied on the JB Hunt website and a recruiter called to set up a phone interview. It was short and asked basic questions to check if I met the minimum qualifications. Then, the recruiter asked me to come in for an in-person interview with two hiring managers. When I got there, an employee walked me in and chatted with me while I waited. The in-person interview actually had two parts back-to-back. The first interviewer explained the job: overseeing truck drivers, handling pay, and logistics. They mentioned learning the software is tough for new hires and that JB Hunt does more than just traditional trucking, like intermodal and 3PL. Questions were basic like "why jb hunt," "what is leadership to you," and "what are you looking for in a company." Some questions felt unprofessional, like asking about my high school graduation year and marital status. The second interviewer asked more basic questions and said they were promoting people and needed to fill supervisor roles. I was told I'd hear back in two weeks, and I got an email saying I didn't get the job.
