& Process

First I had a phone interview with some of the team members. Then I got emails to have a full day onsite interview with everyone! They asked me about the subject matter and I had to explain how to solve issues related to it. Also, I had to teach how to use a dashboard with visualization tools to students in a class. They also told me about the campus during an onsite tour. At the end, I had an interview with the dean of the department.

First, flyers will be posted around campus advertising information sessions. You need to attend one of these sessions to get details about the application process. After submitting your application, if you meet the qualifications, you'll be invited to an individual interview. This interview will be with a current Resident Assistant (RA) and a Resident Director (RD). The questions will focus on behavioral aspects, assessing your ability to handle interpersonal situations. Be ready to share specific examples of times you've dealt with challenging individuals, and how you cope with stress and manage your time. Following this, candidates will participate in a group process that lasts about three hours. This is your opportunity to voice your opinions and demonstrate to the RAs and RD how you collaborate with others.

Went through two interviews. First was like speed dating, where we moved between interviewers and had 1 minute to introduce ourselves to each one. Second interview was a typical sit-down with a current RA and a main staff person. They asked around 10 questions to get a feel for my skills and experience. Got to ask questions at the end.

I reached out to a professor about the possibility of being a Teaching Assistant. The professor then spoke with the department head to arrange for me to be put on the payroll. Following that, I had to complete some required harassment training and also fill out some necessary paperwork.
