Data Scientist
An internal recruiter reached out on LinkedIn. First, there was an HR screen, then I was sent a timed technical test on CodeSignal. I didn't pass the online test, but I think the next step would have been a tech panel interview. The questions were mainly about machine learning theory. I think I could have passed if I had revisited some old concepts. I've been a data scientist for years at different companies. Not sure if a traditional theory test like this actually finds good data scientists, so giving it a neutral rating.
- Tell me about random forest.
- What are your thoughts on overfitting?
- Can you provide a Python coding solution for a medium difficulty problem?
Data Scientist
This was the only interview which I know will not end up well from the beginning. I was also trying to get an idea how bad it could be. If you interview with them, you will know why. My experience is: Don’t waste your time if you are not one of them. That was the worst interview experience ever. I was literally sickened by one of the interviewers, because he was eating on the side of the screen. I guess he was very starving or something. Also, the final interview was very lengthy. You may take a nap during the unnecessary long breaks. Different groups of people keep asking the same dumb questions. Totally a waste of time!
- Overfitting and other questions related to their projects
Data Scientist Intern
For the interview, there were two coding questions. One was about an algorithm, and the other was about processing data given some sample data in a table. The algorithm one was medium difficulty, and the data one was more about explaining the process. They also asked about time complexity.
- How would you manipulate an array of elements?
- Can you explain how to approach this algorithm problem?
- Describe your process for handling this data processing task using the provided table.
