Technical Support Specialist
So this company has a 3 step interview process. First, a phone call with the team manager. Then, a panel interview with leads and managers focusing on core values. Neither of those were weird. I was excited and felt good about them. But then things got strange. For the third interview, they gave me a complex topic and asked me to create and deliver a presentation to a panel as if they had no technical background. I thought it was a good exercise to see if someone can break down complex info. The problem was, I'd never used the product I had to present on, and it was super complex. It took me about 72 hours of intense work just to learn it, plus related tech. It was incredibly stressful, more than recovering databases under mission critical circumstances. I spent days cramming and prepping. During the presentation, I managed to get through it, but when they asked technical questions afterwards, I stumbled because of the stress and lack of sleep. They had to prompt me a lot. Then, right at the end, some of them just dropped off the Zoom call without saying goodbye. That's when I knew I wasted a ton of time on that last interview, feeling discarded and misled. They based my technical expertise solely on this one product I didn't know, which isn't even part of the day-to-day job. Plus, they didn't give me areas to focus on. If that presentation and those questions are so important, maybe change the interview order or at least offer a gift basket or job offer if you make someone put in that much work.

Technical Support Specialist
I was contacted on LinkedIn initially. The recruiter was very clear from the start about the job description and salary range, which was great. Then, I had a 30-minute phone screen. A few days later, there was a 2-hour Zoom interview with 4 panelists, each taking about 30 minutes. The final step was a presentation. They gave me the topic two days beforehand, and I had to present to 6 people, followed by a 10-minute Q&A. The entire process felt very professional, and the team was helpful and friendly. About a week later, I received a competitive offer, but I chose another opportunity that aligned better with my personal goals. It was a good career option though.
- Can you tell me about your direct and indirect customer service experience, including the number of years?
- Which scripting languages are you familiar with?
- What front-end development tools and languages have you worked with?
Technical Support Specialist
My friend who works at Iterable referred me. HR from Iterable got in touch within 2-3 days. The first step was a 30-minute phone screen with the manager, where we covered the basics, what the job entails, and discussed salary and benefits. They reached out really quickly after that, within 2 hours, to set up the next interviews. The following round involved four separate 30-minute interviews with different team members, including the director of customer support and some Customer Success Managers/TSS. The last part was a 30-minute presentation. They gave me a few days to prepare a presentation on a topic they provided. The first 20 minutes were for presenting the material in a way that someone without a technical background could easily understand. The last 10 minutes were a Q&A session where the team would dive into the technical details of the topic and ask me questions. I heard back the same day after the interviews and got an offer, which I accepted. They met my salary expectations.
