It was pretty simple. You fill out an application, and during that, you're asked some questions like 'Do you like coffee?' along with citizenship, disability, and salary questions. For me, it was easy. After I was hired, I saw many people get turned down. Some even got the run-around. It was hard watching people I knew not get a job, seeing the hope in their eyes, only to know the outcome wasn't good. I even saw gay and lesbian people trying to get jobs because the coffee store's atmosphere is portrayed as diverse and unified. The owners, however, from a devoted Christian background, didn't see it that way. While I want to see the good in them, their decisions might have been less than rational. It would have been fine if they turned someone down for being unqualified, but turning them down and then telling me 'I would never hire a person like THAT in my store' says a lot about their judging methods.

I saw an ad in the paper for a Barista position at a new store opening in Keller. I contacted the owner to set up an interview. It was very easy-going and relaxed. I heard back from the owner shortly after and came in for training with all the other new employees. Learning the recipes was easy!

It was just one easy interview with the manager. They really cared about how you would sell stuff to customers.
