I had to do a written exam which included scientific questions. The written exam had questions from Engineering Mathematics and Control Systems. Then I was asked a few more questions about my choice of academic career path and why I wanted to be a Teaching Asst.

I had an interview with about 5 professors in the department. Each professor asked their own questions and also commented on others' questions. It felt easy because I already knew what they were looking for from me.

The interview process kicks off with an initial chat, either with HR or a department panel. This part typically involves introductions, a review of your background, and questions diving into your academic achievements and prior teaching gigs. They'll also want to know what drives you and why you're keen on this specific tutor position. You might get some basic teaching-style questions too, like what your go-to methods are. If they want to see you in action, you might have to do a quick demo lesson or tutorial. The panel will be looking at how clearly you communicate, how well you can break down tough stuff, and your knack for keeping students hooked. For subjects that are more technical, like engineering or computer science, be ready for some subject-specific questions or even a test. This could cover your theoretical knowledge, how you tackle problems, or how things work in practice. Sometimes, there's a final chat with senior folks if you make it past the earlier stages. This last interview might touch on your research background, what the department needs are, and your aspirations for the future.

The interview was a Q&A session, covering both technical topics and general knowledge. It felt like a casual chat. The technical questions weren't very challenging. I discussed my past work, and they asked clarifying questions about those areas. The overall vibe was positive.
