Software Engineer Intern
Had a phone screen first where they asked some basic questions. Then a live coding part, they gave me data structure problems about linked lists and a SQL query question with joins, having, count, and group by. Finally, a soft skills chat with a Product Manager.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What would you say are your strengths?
- In three words, how would others describe you?
Quality Engineer
I applied through my college's career board. About a week later, the CTO reached out to schedule an on-site interview. It was a two-hour session where I met with four people: two from the Software team, one from HR, and the CTO.
- What's your approach to testing the login functionality?
Site Development Manager
I had applied and been interviewed by the hiring manager and COO several months before but was not offered the position at the time- still had a great experience with them through it. Everyone was very prompt and responsive. In this instance they reached out to me about the open position. I had a call with the hiring manager, a team member the next day, and about a week later the CEO and COO, and received an offer about 2-3 days later. The whole process was fast, informative, professional, and comfortably casual. They seemed very concerned about hiring good people who fit well with the company culture. Each person I spoke to was honest and transparent about the company, the pace, the position itself, and challenges and successes they'd had.
- Can you tell me why you are specifically interested in working here?
- What future impacts do you foresee for our Marketplace?
Graphic Designer
I applied for a freelance graphic designer position in February. About a month later, I was invited to meet the team. When I got there, the hiring rep told me everyone was sick and couldn't meet. This was annoying since it's a 90-minute drive each way. As I was leaving, she mentioned a potential phone call with the CEO, which happened a month after that. He was late and didn't seem to know who I was or what I did. After a failed attempt at video chat, he sent me a presentation file and asked for my feedback on how to improve it. I never heard back from them after that.
- What suggestions do you have for making this presentation better?
