The interview process with Island Health was pretty structured and professional. It began with an email from HR to set up a 45–60 minute panel interview. The panel consisted of the hiring manager and a team member. The interview was competency-based, and all questions were in the behavioral "Tell me about a time when…" style.

It was pretty easy and straightforward. They asked some basic and typical questions, like about my strengths and weaknesses, and some behavior questions about how I handle conflict. There were also questions about following seniority, like what I would do if someone with less seniority than me got called in for a shift when I didn't. They also asked about my past experience and education.

I got an email asking me to fill out a questionnaire and some paperwork. After I finished the questionnaire, I had to do some basic Microsoft Office testing with HR. Then, I had an interview with two people from the department. They weren't late, and I didn't have to wait long. They had a list of pre-written questions, and they gave me a copy to look at while they got organized and reviewed my stuff. They wrote down all my answers. It felt friendly and pretty straightforward. They let me ask questions at the end.

I put in an application and then took it to the office that was mentioned. They reviewed the applications one by one. They called me in for my interview, and I answered their questions. They asked about six questions, pretty basic stuff. Working at Seven Oaks Tertiary Care Facility helped me prepare for future jobs. I liked working with the people there.
