First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ISACA.
Instructional Designer
So the ISACA interview was like this: first a recruiter call, then a panel interview, and then a Q&A part. They asked stuff about my background, how I work with others, and if I'd be a good fit for their culture. I got through the recruiter screening and the first interview, and it all felt pretty legit and moved along at a decent pace.
- Can you walk me through how you approach instructional design?
- What's your experience like with instructional design?
- How do you collaborate with others on projects?
Taxonomist
I had a phone screen with HR. Then, I had two video interviews, one with the hiring manager and another with a different manager in the same department. Since the job was remote, I didn't have to go anywhere in person. The interviews weren't too tough and gave me a good sense of how the company works.
- Can you discuss your past work experiences?
- What is your educational background?
- How familiar are you with the software relevant to the taxonomy project?
Marketing Director
Recruiter reached out about the job. I had a phone call with the recruiter, then a week later with the hiring manager. The hiring manager call was a bit distracting since they were driving. Then I was called in for a panel discussion, which they didn't mention beforehand. They also had me fill out some background check stuff, including my SSN. I was a bit concerned about giving out that info since I didn't know their privacy policies and hoped they'd dispose of it securely. I thought the interview went well and they said I'd be a great fit, but then it went silent as usual. I reached out and got a generic reply, and the hiring manager didn't even bother to respond to my polite note. No feedback at all, which was disappointing.
- Just the usual questions.
Marketing Manager
The interview process was a bit unusual. It involved a panel with the CMO, the Director I would report to, and an HR representative. The HR person did most of the talking, emphasizing how great the company is. The CMO would occasionally interrupt with a series of questions, which felt arrogant. The person I would report to didn't ask anything, which was telling about the company culture. The second part of the interview included a standardized test to assess personality, which takes about an hour and a half. I didn't focus too much on the test questions because the CMO's attitude made me decide I didn't want the job.
- What is your understanding of our business?
