First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at iS International Shoppes.
Sales Manager
I was first contacted by a recruiting agency for the Luxury Senior Sales Manager role at their JFK location. I had a 30-minute phone chat with the agency. After that, IS senior recruiter/hiring manager reached out for a nearly hour-long second phone interview. A week later, I had my third interview, a face-to-face panel interview at JFK with the senior recruiter, luxury sales manager, and general manager. We talked for over an hour about behavioral questions, my experience, background, the company, job responsibilities, and expectations. Then, there was zero communication for a month, even after I followed up. Eventually, the recruiter/hiring manager texted to see if I was still interested because the regional manager wanted to interview me. So, I went back to JFK for my fourth interview with the regional manager. It went well, and I was offered the Assistant Luxury Sales Manager position on the spot, with promises of IS training before moving to the senior role. The recruiter/hiring manager contacted me with an offer the same day. I asked for a higher salary, and the recruiter said they'd discuss it with management and get back to me, then vanished. No communication at all.
- What are your long-term career aspirations over the next five years?
Recruiter
Applied thru social media, then a 3rd party job agency had to help me get connected (thru a different req). It wasn't very organized, felt like only 1 person was making the decision, and they made it even before speaking with me. They gave me a timeline for follow-up but then came back with a "sorry we are very close with another candidate." Sounds like they've been there a while and know how this works. Talents don't just follow you around; I'd already moved on to another job before they came back with the "bad news." Maybe they need to be clearer about expectations and requirements? Oh, and better communication is needed.
- What is your motivation for working in recruitment?
Brand Ambassador
I found out about this Brand Ambassador job through a personal contact who told me about the opening. After applying, I was invited for an in-person interview. Following the interview, I received an offer. Since the role involves working at the airport, I had to complete all the necessary security training.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What makes you interested in this company?
Sales Representative
The interview at IS International shoppes in JFK airport was pretty unprofessional, lasting only 5 minutes. The questions were easy, and I got the job offer the next day.
