First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IRS.
Agent
I got an invite initially and responded right away to set up the interview, but they told me they weren't interviewing anymore. A few weeks later, I got another invite and it all went smoothly.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What is your motivation for wanting to work at the IRS?
Agent
The interview process was very formal and strict. The interviewers were sarcastic and wanted specific answers. If you didn't give those answers, you were out.
No confirmed questions were included in this interview report.
Agent
I was interviewed by a panel of 3 people, and it didn't take too long. The questions were very tax technical, and they also asked quite a few questions about basic accounting concepts like ledgers, financial statements, and tax returns. The interviewers were very nice, even though I didn't know all the answers.
- Could you explain what section 78 gross up is?
- What is the definition of section 482?
- Can you describe basic accounting concepts such as ledgers, financial statements, and tax returns?
