First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ipswitch.
Research and Development
I met with a bunch of people over a few weeks at different management levels, including people who would be my co-workers, my managers, and even some executives. I had to show them what I could do in a few different areas and also talk about my past experience and why I was interested in this specific job. The interviewers seemed genuinely interested in what I had to say and were pretty open about their own experiences working at the company, sharing both good and bad things. Some of them had only been there a short time, while others had been with the company for many years.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join Ipswitch?
Software Quality Assurance Engineer
Had two phone screens: one from HR about general stuff and another from the site manager. Then I got a call back a few days later for an in-person interview. The interview was in a nice office suite, and the HR people from Lexington, MA, had a 3-hour schedule ready for me. Everyone was super nice and professional. They were quick with emails and kept things moving. I talked to HR on a video call about benefits and the company, then the QA lead, the Site manager, and a Senior QA person, also on video calls. Got the offer in about a week. Benefits start on day one, and I get 4 weeks of vacation/PTO right away.
- What's your approach when dealing with challenging personalities at work?
Channel Sales Coordinator
The recruiter gave me a ring first. After that, I talked to the hiring manager over the phone. She set me up to meet her team about a week after that. I didn't actually meet the hiring manager though. The team was really cool, and there weren't any curveballs. They were basically just seeing if it was a good fit for both sides. I got the feeling they already picked someone but had to interview outside people.
- Would you be available to answer your phone during evenings or weekends?
IT Coop
It was a very brief interview, and not much came of it. I am waiting to see if there's a chance for another interview later. The company was looking for IT COOP interns for upcoming projects related to one of their branch offices in a different state.
- Could you introduce yourself and describe the responsibilities of your previous role?
- Please elaborate on the functions you performed in your last position at your previous company.
