First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at IPG Photonics.
Software Developer
It was a two-stage process. First, a phone call with two interviewers who weren't HR. I don't recall the specifics of that conversation. The next interview was face-to-face. We started with a tour, then went to a conference room for more technical discussions. They asked me about various damping systems and also some coding questions. Towards the end, they wanted to know more about my personality, asking about my hobbies and passions.
- What new technology would you invent?
Software Engineer
It’s a simple strategy, but it’s often all you need to do. When it comes to making a great first impression, present the company in a positive light. If your company is known to be a tough place to work, be honest, but not discouraging. Be as transparent as possible during the interview process. With so many resources (such as Glassdoor) at candidate’s fingertips, it easy to see if a company isn’t telling the whole truth when it comes to the inner workings and culture of their organization.
- What programming languages do you know, and what's your knowledge and skills in them?
Software Engineer Intern
The interview process included one technical round followed by a few behavioral questions. The behavioral part also had some logic questions. Overall, it was a fine process. I found the workplace a bit chaotic, but it's a good company otherwise.
