They responded quickly after I applied and it was clear the hiring manager had actually reviewed my resume and portfolio. I had two interviews: one over the phone and then a face-to-face meeting. This was honestly the most thorough interview I've had in the 18 months I've been looking. They asked good questions and I had plenty of time to discuss my work style, how I collaborate with teams, and how copy should align with a client's brand voice.

The interview process was going very well, everything was nice and conversational and I felt very comfortable with the process and very much enjoyed all conversations I had. However, after three rounds of interviewing (including an in-person interview which the hiring manager bailed from just the day beforehand) the hiring manager requested sensitive information/documents from my current job in order to see my "chops" and cut off contact entirely when I said that would not be possible due to my company's IT and document security policies. I offered to substitute with a case study or other exercise to show my "chops", since I regrettably work somewhere with rather draconian IT policies, but never heard anything back after that. In retrospect, massive red flag there to demand sensitive information from my current employer and then cut off all contact/interest entirely without explanation when I indicated that wouldn't be possible. Genuinely, I don't know how a business operates this way and still fancies itself reputable—truly questionable ethics to demand sensitive documents from a candidate; makes me wonder whether the interest was real or if they were just harvesting me for information about my company for prospecting on their end.

The interviewer was very straight forward while asking questions and considered all of my skills and experience. The hiring staff was very friendly and had a positive attitude. The whole process was quick and I had an offer within two days from the interview. I was given a tour around the facility to familiarize with the kind off work environment I was going to be working in.

The interview included the hiring manager and supervisor. It was a relaxed and straightforward process with typical behavioral interview questions about my experience. They asked about what I consider a significant accomplishment and why, and how I would handle a difference of opinion with my manager. At the end, they gave an overview of the company and location.
