You get an automated email to schedule the screening. No other communication, so you just hope the meeting happens. The HR person was 5 minutes late but did call. No apology. They asked typical questions like 'explain your experience' while writing it all down, seeming to not understand. They also asked what I knew about the company. My general answer wasn't liked, and I was accused of not researching. I asked about team structure, and the recruiter barely knew, acting like they just started. Yet, they were annoyed I didn't research deeply. I decided not to continue with a company whose recruiters have bad attitudes. The recruiting team is the first impression; being late, rude, and uninformed is a turn-off.

The interview process involved a technical screening and an onsite interview. It included detailed technical questions about Python and its libraries, discussions about previous experience with compilers and backends, and questions on data structures and algorithms. There were also specific questions about quantum algorithms like Shore and Simon, as well as quantum error correction and surface codes. Additionally, questions related to past postdoctoral research experience were asked.

Technical Presentation

Great interview process, I was treated with respect and felt valued. For anyone interviewing and seeing negative reviews online, I'd suggest considering the specific group you'd be joining. The software development team here has a great leader/manager who really cares about the growth of individual team members. I've worked for many managers before who didn't invest in their people and were more focused on their own tasks. This seems to be the exception.
