Event Coordinator
I had a phone screening, then an in-person interview. Since that went well, I met with the GM. Then I had one more interview with the regional manager where we talked about my experience and they showed me around. It was mostly a personality check.
- What do you enjoy most about weddings?
Concierge
The process was good, I submitted my resume and then they asked for a phone screening and after that an in-person interview. I didn't feel like they asked for too much of my time or wasted it during the interview process.
- What makes you want to apply for this job?
General Manager
Went through an initial interview using the internet application, then completed a 365 Question Assess Report. Following that, I had a telephone interview. The interviewer seemed distracted, cradling her phone and speaking with a fading voice while taking handwritten notes. She repeatedly asked me to elaborate on my answers, seemingly to give herself more time to write. I felt this was an incompetent method and she should use a headset and laptop for better efficiency. The interview had five questions and lasted 35 minutes. When I asked for her feedback on my candidacy, she wouldn't commit, stating they were interviewing other candidates. She initially made a big deal about relocation costs, salary, and bonus, but then contradicted herself by saying relocation costs weren't a concern. Ultimately, I believe ClubCorp could be more discerning with their HR appointments for General Manager candidates, especially for one of Silicon Valley's most prestigious clubs.
- Can you walk me through the revenue management process and outline the subsequent action steps when variances occur?
- Describe a situation where you had to achieve a goal rapidly and explain your approach.
- What makes you a strong candidate for a General Manager position in Silicon Valley?
Sales Tax Associate
It was a pretty standard interview. I met with the head of sales tax and a tax software consultant at their office. They gave me a few times to pick from, so it was easy to set up. The hiring manager asked if I wanted the job. I said yes and asked if they were making me an offer or planning to. They said 'Yes we are going to make you an offer. Wait one week for us to run it through HR.' I waited two weeks and didn't hear anything, so I followed up, and they told me they had already given the job to someone else who was 'more hungry for the job.' Pros: Easy to schedule, people seemed nice, and the timeline was fast. Cons: If you don't follow up quickly, they'll pass you over, even if they say otherwise.
- What is your understanding of our company?
- Can you explain your motivation for pursuing a career in sales tax?
- Tell me about your adaptability to learning new technologies.
