I had about 3 interviews, and the last one had about 4 or 5 interviewers. It was pretty standard and nice until the last interview with what I think was the General Manager. He spent the whole time arguing with me about industry terms. It was really weird, and I felt like he didn't like me from the start. He seemed dismissive of my PBK honor society induction and even said, "not to be paternalistic, but, it's actually...." when correcting me. I wonder if he would have said that to a male candidate. It wasn't the worst sexist thing ever, but it was unprofessional and upsetting. Everyone else was very pleasant, but I had another job offer, so I took that one!

I met with the VP, HR, and Managing Editors. I was asked routine interview questions. They asked about my ability to work under tight deadlines. I had to take a skills assessment where I had to edit, proofread, and fact check an article.

The interview process was great and really professional. They were upfront about the role, salary, and benefits. It was clear they care a lot about company culture and that personality fit is as important as experience.
