First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Investor Management Services.
Account Development Representative
They started with a 30-minute phone screening. If they liked me, I got an invite for a 2-hour office interview. I met with another ADR, an RSE, and the Director of Business Development. Then, there was a final screening with some C-level execs. They're really picky about candidate skills and traits, so you gotta be clear and articulate your reasoning.
- What makes you want to pursue a career in sales?
- Describe your approach to overcoming customer objections.
- What is your understanding of IMS?
Implementation Analyst
Recruiter reached out via an external third party recruiter to assess interest in the role and provide a high-level overview of the company culture. Next, a senior team member interviewed to confirm skillset alignment and transferability to the industry. They shared insights about employees' desire to learn quickly and leave within 2-3 years, noting the company's stable yet startup-like state, and advising caution about the role's risks. Finally, a 5-member panel conducted an in-person interview at CLT HQ, including a location tour. Each 20-30 minute session was insightful and consistent, with clear expectations for the first 90 days of onboarding.
- Nothing out of the ordinary was asked or explained.
Sales Engineer
The interview process began with an initial phone screening, followed by a more in-depth phone interview. After that, there was a half-day visit to the HQ in Charlotte a few weeks later. IMS was very responsive and made the experience enjoyable.
- Can you share an instance of a tough objection from a sales prospect and explain how you handled it?
- Could you tell me about yourself?
ADR
We start with a psychometric test online that checks your IQ, how you handle stress, and your problem-solving skills. They use this to see if you fit what they're looking for. They mentioned that the best candidates really stand out with their smarts and ability to solve problems.
- Can you share an instance where you felt genuinely enthusiastic about building something?
- How can a work environment that encourages healthy competition eventually become less dynamic?
