Tour Leader
The selection process involved multiple rounds, with different interviewers in each stage. Although I successfully passed all the stages, I ultimately decided not to accept the offer due to a mismatch in expectations and poor communication from the company. Despite being ready to sign the contract, they insisted on asking me to reschedule work dates that were already booked with other clients for uncertain tours, even though I had provided them with almost my full availability. I declined to sign the contract because I felt there was a lack of professionalism, flexibility, and respect for my freelance status, while they expected a high degree of it from me.
- Describe a potential day with travelers, including the itinerary and necessary preparations.
- In a hypothetical situation involving a challenging traveler or a logistical issue, how would you respond?
Tour Leader
You start by creating a profile and submitting an application via the Intrepid website. After finishing the written part of the application, you'll be invited for an online video interview. The interview is conducted by two managers and it was a really pleasant experience, very laid back and comfortable. It was straightforward, with no right or wrong answers. The interview lasted about an hour, and the questions felt natural, covering personal experiences and hypothetical situations. This was followed by a presentation, and then a background check before an offer was made.
- Could you share your most memorable travel destination and the reasons behind it?
- How would you handle a situation with a passenger who is being loud and intoxicated?
- What are your thoughts on the meaning of sustainable travel?
Product Executive
I actually applied for 2 different roles over the course of 2 years. For the first role, I got a take-home task before the screening call. It was sent late Friday evening with a deadline of Monday end of day, meaning work over the weekend. Huge red flag. Then, I was asked for salary expectations before any calls, which I found odd and felt it could have saved time. Completing the task felt like free work. The second role started with a 20 min screening call, where I couldn't ask questions and the HR person wasn't familiar with the region. The second call was a full 1 hour with about 20 questions, which felt rushed and again, I had no time for questions. This felt like a one-way street. The follow-up took weeks and was vague, making it seem like they weren't sure what they were hiring for. The process felt like it spoke more about the culture than anything else.
- Describe a time you had to adapt to changing business needs and how you handled the pivot.
Sales Consultant
So I started with like a quick 15-minute phone screen, and they told me right then and there if I was moving on, which was cool. Then I had a video interview with two sales managers. They seemed nice enough, but it felt super rushed, like they really didn't want to go past the 45 minutes we had booked. I even felt like they cut me off a few times. The questions weren't weird or anything, but I wasn't totally sure if it was the last interview or if I'd have another one with someone else. Didn't get that far, though. The feedback I got was super generic, and when I asked for more details, they ghosted me.
- Describe your approach to qualifying a potential lead.
