This was a recruiter call where they asked about my background, education, strengths, weaknesses, projects I've worked on, my future goals, and what I expect from this role. We also talked about why I left my previous job, my hobbies, what I hope to gain from this position, my thoughts on work-life balance, my schedule, and how I work with a team.

So I was responsible for a bunch of stuff, like installing SQL Server on new servers (2008/2012/2014). Also upgraded existing production servers from 2005/2008 to SQL Server 2012/2014. Then I moved databases, jobs, packages, linked servers, and logins from older versions to the new ones. Upgraded SSIS packages to SQL Server 2012 too. On top of that, I handled daily support tickets and development issues, plus I was on-call and escalated issues from the offshore team.

  • Were you responsible for database refresh and coordinating with the QA Team?

Went through 2 technical rounds, both of moderate difficulty and passed both, then had an HR round which also went well. There was some negotiation on the package, but they offered a good one. They asked for documents for evaluation, but after two weeks, they informed that hiring is on hold and they will respond if there's an update from the client. This is quite disappointing, and I hope future candidates get faster updates because waiting without clarity is tough. I'll need to consider my options.
