Program Manager
I applied for a project manager role, but they changed it to program manager the night before my first screening. Even though I said my experience didn't match the program manager posting, they encouraged me to continue. After a second interview, I was given a homework assignment. Once I finished it, they told me I didn't qualify. Honestly, save yourself the trouble and don't do the homework unless you're pretty sure you'll move on. It feels like they give it to everyone and don't even review it.
- Describe a situation where a project you were involved in failed and explain how you managed it.
Project Manager
It started with a phone interview with a recruiting agency, then a video interview where I had to answer questions on camera. These recorded answers were then looked at by the agency and the hiring manager/director. If I passed that, I had to go to their office and give a power point presentation about Project Management elements to a panel of about 8 people. After the presentation, I had individual interviews with more people, including the HR Manager. Once I cleared the in-person interviews, the agency asked for 3 references (at least 2 supervisors) and ran a background check. The whole thing took about a month. I liked talking to everyone at Alchemy and the agency. They were nice, and I think I would have enjoyed working with the Director and the team. Nice, big, and spacious office too. I turned down the offer just because of compensation. They offered market rate pay and decent PTO, but my current employer gave me a really good counter offer that I couldn't refuse.
- What's the biggest risk for us in hiring you?
- Can you tell me about the best manager you've had?
Senior Software Engineer
First I had a phone screen, then a 30 minute technical call, and finally a 3-hour in person interview. They asked questions about object oriented programming, database optimization, unit testing, agile development process, and PHP programming.
- What are your thoughts on Object Oriented Programming?
- Can you explain database optimization?
- What's your approach to unit testing?
Textile Testing Lab Technician
First, they do a CV screening. Then, there's an online assessment test. After that, an initial interview with the department manager and an HR rep. Finally, a second interview with the department's Senior Manager and HR.
- What makes you want to pursue a career in laboratory work?
