Supplier Quality Assurance Manager
Had a nice get-to-know-you chat and a quick overview of my career path. We talked about each other's backgrounds and what we're looking for (regarding the job/tasks, daily routine, salary). They described a challenge from their daily work and asked how I'd handle it/solve it. Then, I got to ask my questions.
- Can you give concrete examples from your experience to demonstrate how you handle difficult situations?
Project Manager
So I interviewed with Intersnack and it was a bit of a mixed bag. First, there were some quick and nice emails, then a chat with the recruiter who was pretty on top of things. After that, I had a good Zoom call with some team folks, which felt professional and gave me a good vibe about the team. The next step was an in-person interview in Düsseldorf. I met with HR, the team director, and a technical person for about two hours. We talked about my salary, and they even said I should ask for more. We nailed down a start date. The interview got really into the weeds on project stuff, like, super detailed, asking how I'd deal with all sorts of problems and going back and forth on things I wouldn't normally even know about. Five days later, the recruiter let me know I didn't get it, which was a surprise to him too, and he said he'd look into why but never got back to me. Turns out, the job's been open for ages and they keep posting it, even though they said it was urgent. All the deep dives into project details makes me wonder if they were just looking for free advice from people instead of actually wanting to hire someone. The team was nice, but the whole lack of clear communication and follow-up at the end was a real letdown.
- Tell me about a difficult project you managed, including the specific challenges encountered and how you addressed them.
- Describe your strategy for handling and resolving specific project issues.
- What are your thoughts on salary expectations for this role?
Category Manager
We had 1 interview with the recruitment firm, then 1 interview with the N+1 and 1 interview with the N+2. Then 1 interview with the N+3 and 1 interview with HR. There was also a reference check. The whole process took about 1.5 months.
- Tell me about your professional and personal background.
- Why are you interested in this position?
- What are your career aspirations?
Contract Manager
After applying, I got an email from HR with a link to a form to confirm I met the job offer conditions (work authorization in Germany). About 10 days later, I received another email with dates for a first interview. This was a quick one-on-one meet and greet with an Intersnack employee. A few days before the deadline, a recruiter hired by Intersnack contacted me via phone to schedule the second interview. I chose the earliest of three dates offered. This second interview was with the hiring manager and a senior employee. It was professional and polite, involving a quick elevator pitch and questions about past problems, solutions, and learnings. After two weeks with no feedback, I contacted the recruiter. He informed me he hadn't received the 'go ahead' for a third, in-person interview at HQ and needed to speak with the hiring manager first. The next day, he told me he'd spoken with the hiring manager, couldn't share details, but assured me they'd contact me soon. Two days later, I checked the website; the job offer was still listed but with a slightly different title. A few days after that, the offer was removed. I called the recruiter, but he didn't answer or call back. I'm disappointed because I never received feedback on why I wasn't chosen, nor even a notification that my application was unsuccessful.
- Can you describe a difficult situation you encountered and how you resolved it?
