It was pretty laid back, but they really dug into things. They talked about where they see the company going. I met with three of the executives in their offices. They gave me the lowdown on how the company handles its staff. The questions felt more about my personality than my actual job skills.

A recruiter scheduled the interview and emailed me the details and that it would be a team interviewing me. I followed the manager to a small room where two other people sat, in the dark (and one who looked cold). Why no lights? That was weird. They asked me standard interview questions, but didn't get into the actual task behind what I would be doing--which would really be linkbuilding and, basically, spamming potential clients to pitch their content articles. I was told to stop the manager if it didn't fit my needs, and so I did. I told him I didn't feel comfortable doing email blasts. He appreciated my honesty.

I applied online and got contacted for an interview within two weeks. The interview was on a Wednesday or Thursday, and I heard back the next Monday morning. It was a really laid-back and relaxed interview, which helped ease my nerves. I spoke with the department manager and two team members. I thought I bombed it, but they gave me an offer. Finding the office was a bit tricky since the building signs aren't very clear.

After applying online, I got an email to set up an in-person meeting. I met with the head of development and someone else. They asked about my background and told me about the role and company. Then, they asked some pretty straightforward 'senior' level questions to check if I had the expected knowledge. After that, I was told the next steps were a 'small' programming project and then a meeting with the owner, Jim Boykin. That 'small' project ended up taking about 8 hours, including research because I had to use an unfamiliar API. It felt like more than a 'small' assignment. I didn't get the job; they emailed saying the position was removed. I heard from someone that they sometimes have applicants do work and then use the code without hiring them, which feels really sleezy. I wouldn't recommend applying here for a developer role.
