First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at International Rescue Committee.
Specialist
The interview was held on Microsoft Teams. The HR recruiter seemed really disinterested, which was off-putting. She asked vague questions and seemed annoyed by my answers. The process felt excessive for a role with a lower salary than my current nonprofit job at a similar prestigious organization. When I asked about negotiating salary, she stated there was no room and that the range was 70-75k. Before the next round, I was required to complete an hour-long writing test and provide five references who would rank my skills on a scale of 1-10. I withdrew my application after the initial call due to the negative impression of the organization.
- How do you promote gender equity in your professional activities?
CRM Specialist
I had a really nice phone screening with someone from HR. They were great and even offered some general interview advice. I was hoping for at least a second interview, but I never heard back. What really gets me is that I followed up by email just to confirm, and still no reply. Is it too much to ask for a simple rejection notice? It's frustrating when companies do this.
- Could you explain your understanding of D&I?
Specialist
This was a straightforward interview, no nonsense. All the info was explained clearly. The people were very polite and direct. They explained the position and duties thoroughly and answered all my questions and concerns. Overall, it was a positive experience.
