So I got to the place and the security guy at the front asked for my name, then told me where to park and helped me open the gate. I was actually an hour early, thinking I'd use that time to prep, but they hit me with a chemistry test right away. It had 9 questions, mostly calculations like product yield, acid base reactions, and complex reactions. Also asked why NH3 is a good ligand, to write a reaction showing H2O as amphoteric, ionization index, calculate molarity and normality, and use the ideal gas law pV=nRT. After that, there was a timed test where I had to weigh 24 containers and record their number, color, and if they were solid or liquid. That took me 32 minutes. Then the validation manager came in, explained the validation process, and gave me a written test about the installation, operation, and performance qualification for a rice cooker. It involved 8 parts: objects, scope, system description, equipment needed, procedure, acceptance criteria, reference, and attachments. I didn't do great in the interview part, but the written test was okay. I spent about an hour and a half on that. They offered me the job 3 business days later.

I applied online. Someone from the company called to set up an interview. Then, the receptionist gave me a bunch of files to read, followed by a 10-question quiz that wasn't too hard, and I got a perfect score. The interview questions themselves were easy and pretty standard. The whole process felt quite informal. They mentioned that the position I applied for had just been filled a few days prior, stating they are 'constantly looking for new people,' which was frustrating given I had already traveled for it. To top it off, the interviewer took a phone call during our conversation.

I applied on craigslist and got a call the next day for an interview. They gave me a short general chemistry test covering empirical formulas, product yield (requiring knowledge of limiting reactants), the PV=nRT formula (including unit conversions like torr to atm), balancing chemical equations, calculating moles from molarity and volume, explaining water's amphoteric nature, and nitrogen's reactivity. Then, there was a timed practical involving weighing about 30-40 containers of minerals and fluids to the second decimal place using a balance. Following that, I interviewed with HR and chemistry staff who discussed SOPs, cGMPs, and the required bunny suit with a respirator. They asked about shift flexibility, noting irregular schedules, and emphasized strong communication skills and the ability to train lab techs, as the role involves being part of one of three groups. They repeatedly asked if I had questions, suggesting I prepare some. They also stressed neat handwriting for exams and applications. Additionally, they mentioned a required lung test, working in an enclosed vacuum hood, and a background and drug test. The HR person mentioned exams would be graded and the process might take 1-2 weeks. I followed up via email after two weeks and received a response.

So I applied online, which was super easy. Then I went in for the test and to meet with the interviewers. They asked me about when I'm available and just generally about myself. There was also a practical test where I had to weigh vials. It was pretty simple. The main thing was to be really careful and pay attention to detail when writing down the sample information. The chemistry test itself covered basic general chemistry and some analytical chemistry stuff.
