Three days prior to the interview, I was asked to analyze a research paper concerning the impact of elite schooling on student achievement using regression discontinuity. Although I arrived early on interview day, the 3ie staff were welcoming and started the interview 20 minutes ahead of schedule. Initially, three interviewers were expected, but only two attended. The interview lasted an hour and was conducted in a relaxed yet formal setting around a round table. They began with an introduction to their program and the role, then proceeded to ask questions about my background, interests, data analysis skills, and experience. The interview primarily focused on methodologies, and I noticed many staff members were of Indian or American origin.

I applied by sending my CV and a cover letter. Then, I had to complete a test that wasn't too hard. After the test, I had an interview where they asked about my experience with research methods, work experience, and knowledge. They mentioned they'd contact me the following week, but they never did.
