First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Director of Technology
After a recruiter call, I had a phone screen, then a 1:1 with the hiring manager, followed by a peer panel review, and finally 1:1s with the executive team. The hiring manager gave me detailed feedback on why I wasn't getting an offer, which was really appreciated. Best experience I've had over my year-long job search.
- Can you tell me about your leadership style and how it aligns with this position?
- In what ways does your past experience prepare you for the responsibilities of this role?
Marketing Coordinator
The hiring process involved 4 interviews: first with the department director, then with the department manager, followed by interviews with other managers, and finally an interview with the team. The interviews focused on asking about organizational skills and the standard processes used at previous jobs.
- Could you describe any processes you've implemented or followed in your past positions?
- What attracts you to this particular company?
- What makes you believe you are a suitable candidate for this role?
Research and Insight Analyst
Applied and got an email to set up an interview. Responded quickly, but then waited three days to hear back from HR, who said they were busy. We scheduled a call, which was on Microsoft Teams but was audio-only - seemed like a complicated way to do a phone call. The interview itself was a stiff, old-fashioned Q&A with no real conversation. They said I'd hear back by the next week, but it's now been a week past that, and I still haven't heard from IAPP. It was a disappointing experience, especially since I was initially excited about interviewing with what I thought was a modern, dynamic company.
- Could you share your definition of privacy?
Channel Sales Manager
Had an initial phone screen, but honestly, no real interview questions came up. The company really dropped the ball on following through and getting back to me about the next steps like they said they would. They mentioned in the phone screen that the hiring director was out of the country and apparently too busy for a quick call. Honestly, with the way they've handled this and what I've seen in online reviews, it doesn't seem like a great place to work. Plus, the pay they're offering is super low for this area; you'd probably make more just working in Massachusetts given how close it is to the border!
- How much experience do you have working with channels?
- What's your approach to motivating a sales team?
- Since this role is primarily inside sales, would that work for you?
