Field Technician
I went for an interview for a Security Alarm Technician job in Plano, TX. The recruiter gave me some good info about the job, and the phone interview was pretty relaxed, almost like a normal chat. Then I talked to the hiring manager, who really knew his stuff about the industry, and we had a really smooth conversation.
- Can you tell me about a difficult installation or troubleshooting situation you've dealt with before? What steps did you take to fix it?
- What do you see as the biggest security weaknesses for alarm systems, and how do you handle these during setup or upkeep?
Account Executive
It was a pretty straightforward interview process. After the initial screening call, there were 2 more virtual interviews. I talked to the Sr. Business Development Manager and the Chief Transformation Officer. They asked about my experience in the security industry and sales. Both interviewers were really nice, friendly, and straightforward.
- Can you explain how you drive revenue and generate leads on your own at your current company?
Business Analyst Scrum Master
I had a recruiter meeting, then a written test that was a few pages long. After that, I met with the hiring manager, which I really liked. Then came a panel meeting. I didn't know who the panelists were beforehand, which made it hard to prep. One person was late, didn't turn their camera on, so it was just me and one other person on camera, with two others off camera (one had car trouble, which is understandable). It was tough to connect like that. The late guy, I think he was over CyberSec, asked me something that caught me off guard. I asked if he read my resume and he said no. That was off-putting – not being on camera, being late, and not reading my resume, especially since it shows I worked with a C security division for a large company for 4.5 years. The interview went well with the other two. A week later, I got a generic rejection email. After all the time and effort I put in, including the test, I expected a phone call. Guess that's too much to ask for some consideration for applicants. This was a hybrid job that also included QA.
- Could you define what a servant leader is?
- Regarding a CSecurity issue, could you explain how you would triage it?
NOC Supervisor
The recruiter messaged me on LinkedIn and we had a phone call. Then they scheduled a virtual interview, but the day before, they asked me to come in person. The in-person part felt a bit chaotic, like nobody was really in charge. The director showed up, but even they seemed unsure at times. The interview itself was okay, but the follow-up was bad. I was supposed to hear back from the first recruiter, but I didn't. Then I saw the job posted again on social media, and I'd emailed them already. After waiting and following up again, the recruiter finally told me I didn't get the job and they picked someone else, even though they were still advertising. I was excited about this job, but the lack of professionalism and leadership makes me think I avoided a problem. It's a shame because it seems like a good company on the surface, but their follow-through was really disappointing.
- Can you share your experience with leadership and your leadership style?
