The interview process at Interface.ai was quite a letdown. They gave me an offline task without discussing it first. Even though I checked with the recruiter, they said a software dev background wasn't a must. Then, I had a really awkward chat with the CEO. He seemed totally checked out, didn't talk much, and even turned off his camera and mic. He didn't even look at the PRD I prepared, and it felt like they weren't even going to check my technical skills. To top it off, at the very end, he just asked if I had a software dev background and made a decision right then. If that was a dealbreaker, they should have said so upfront before I spent so much time on the task, especially since I made sure to include technical stuff in the PRD. Their lack of honesty and professionalism was pretty bad. Recruiters should be more upfront and respect people's time, which they totally didn't here.

Applied through angel-list and got a response pretty quickly. Was set up for a phone interview with the co-founder and CEO over the weekend. The call started on time and I was asked about my work experience and current project. The product discussion was typical but needed more than standard answers, leading to many business case discussions, which was enjoyable but challenging. After about an hour, the founder indicated I passed the first round and mentioned a second round via Skype. The second round occurred on a weekday, using screen-share. I was shown the company's product on a client's website and asked for my feedback and ideas. I shared some original thoughts and passed this round. I then visited their office in Indira Nagar and met HR and some team members. We had tea and talked about their current projects, which involve AI and its business applications, aligning with my interests. The founder seemed very passionate and knowledgeable. A few days later, I received a call to discuss the offer, which was then emailed. My salary request was accepted without negotiation, and I accepted the offer.

I applied even though I was hesitant. The interviews and case study went well, but the whole process took ages. Eventually, HR called with an offer, but wanted to speak with the head of HR first. After discussing compensation, HR needed more time. Then, they wanted me to speak with the hiring manager or head, which happened on a weekend. I figured this was part of the negotiation to close the deal quickly. Surprisingly, instead of salary or team discussions, they wanted me to present the assignment I'd submitted weeks prior. It was my best work, but I really stumbled during the presentation and wouldn't hire someone who presented like that. I told HR I wasn't expecting a case study discussion at this stage. It's unusual not to discuss salary or the team at this point, and it felt like a hiring process failure. To top it off, HR informed me they weren't moving forward with my application and apologized for the HR process, which I found ironically amusing. I thanked them sarcastically for the 'beautiful experience'.
