It was supposed to be a group interview, which is a new approach for first-round interviews. However, I was the only one who showed up, so it ended up being just me. The interviewers decided to proceed with the interview as originally planned. They asked standard questions and seemed very interested in my soft skills as well as my training.

I was called in for an interview. My contact went home and no one informed me. Upon arriving at the school, I had to fill out a very old copy of an application form. While I was still filling it out, it was time for the interview, so I left the application at the front desk. An ESL "Manager" then greeted me and took me to a classroom that was quite cold (around 65℉). They handed me a part from a teacher's manual and told me to teach a lesson. After a few minutes, I taught the lesson to her and another "Manager." It was clear to me that this was just a formality so they could say they interviewed someone before hiring their friend. One of them was playing on his cell phone, and both asked sarcastic questions, pretending to be students. They were not serious at all about finding an instructor. I was questioned about their "everyone needs to pass at all costs" educational philosophy and wasn't shown the facilities or given specifics about their program.

I met with the Director after sending over my resume. Even though I graduated from ICT, I had to go through the process alongside the other candidates. She gave me a skills test and asked me questions about myself, and where I saw myself with in the company. She was very specific about what she was looking for in that position. And needless to say, I got the job.

I heard about this job from a friend who took classes there. I reached out to the ESL Department Chair and asked for an interview. They invited me in. The interview includes a demo lesson and some standard questions. I got the job offer after that. This place isn't big on negotiating salary; you either accept their offer or they'll hire someone else.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • The demo lesson was the most stressful part for me.
