I was a top candidate for a role and went through multiple interviews. They even did a reference check which made me think they were serious. But after my references, who are super busy people, gave their time, I was completely ghosted. No follow-up, no closure, not even a simple message. This really shows how much they value people's time, mine and my references'. It also makes me wonder how things work there if this is how they hire. Companies need to realize that hiring shows their values. If they don't show respect and transparency to potential employees, I doubt they have it internally.

The interview process was a bit all over the place and not very clear. I had two interviews. First, I met with three people from the team. Then, I spoke with two senior managers. It was cool to talk to the managers, but it seemed like they hadn't really decided what they needed the role to be. In both interviews, they asked me what role I thought I'd fit best in, even though I applied for a specific job. This made me think they were still figuring out their team structure and where people would fit, instead of having a set job description. I passed both interviews and did a technical chat, but then I just got a standard rejection email with no explanation. It was a bummer to put in so much time and effort and then not get any clear feedback. It felt like they were still trying to sort out what they wanted and who they needed. It wasn't the professional or organized experience I'd expect for a role like this.

I went through a few interviews before getting hired. They selected a group of managers from different departments, which I thought was a good idea. The last interview was scheduled with the direct managers I would be working with in the position and they gave the final sign off.

The HR and hiring managers were nice and seemed engaged. I don't recall the non-technical questions, but some were confusing and unexpected. The technical questions were straightforward. I got an offer letter, and HR mentioned several times that I could extend the deadline if needed, and it was stated in the letter too. I asked for the weekend to think about it, and they extended it immediately. The next day, I was playing phone-tag with the hiring manager. When we finally spoke, she gave a long explanation and then said they were rescinding the offer because I asked for an extension. They claimed they wanted someone immediately, but my start date was 3-4 weeks away. It's hard to work for a company with poor inter-departmental communication or one that punishes for petty reasons. The offer was insulting for the expected output, and benefit premiums were high. It was a blessing in disguise.
