Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Institutional Shareholder Services.
Sustainability Specialist
Started with a recruiter call, then had a director interview, followed by a case study, and then a team interview. There were multiple stages in the team interview. The case was easy, it was like the job you'll be doing.
- Can you tell me about your experience related to this role?
Sustainability Analyst
I did 10 virtual interviews with various team members. The staff was professional and thoughtful. It was a long process. That said, the virtual nature of the interviews made communication difficult. I was not offered the role.
- What makes you invested in this role?
ESG Consultant
The team I interviewed with was great and asked straightforward questions, mostly about my experience. However, working with the recruiter and HR was not a good experience. In our first conversation, I mentioned a salary range, and the recruiter let it slip that their budget was higher. When we spoke again for the final call, she asked for my salary expectations, and I gave a number higher than my original range. The recruiter then stated that their budget was exactly in the middle of my first range for the role, and they only allowed me one counter-offer from their initial offer. HR and the company were also insistent on me being in the office 3 days a week, despite most of the team I interviewed with being located abroad or in different US offices.
- Can you share an instance where you experienced failure?
