Postdoctoral Fellow
The interview process varies by lab. In my experience, it involved meeting with the Principal Investigators (PIs), completing a problem set, and giving a presentation. All stages were quite straightforward and not difficult.
- Can you discuss your prior research experience?
Research Associate
It was pretty standard. I talked to the principal investigator of the lab I was into and they asked me about my previous lab experience and if I was familiar with the field they were working in, and also about my comfort level with different wet lab skills.
- Tell me about your previous research experience.
- How familiar are you with the research area of this lab?
- What's your experience level with different wet lab techniques?
Research Scientist
First, I had to submit some coding samples and then write a one-page summary about research ideas that could be interesting. After that, I had to give a presentation on one of my papers or any other work I wanted to share.
- Tell me about your thoughts on Machine Learning.
Research Fellow
I applied for this job about 4 months ago. After a long period of about 3 months, involving a research proposal, references, and a phone interview, I had my onsite interview which lasted for two days. It seemed to go well, and the director said I'd hear back the next week. I waited a week with no news, then checked with the program manager who said I'd hear by Monday. Monday came, and she said the decision was pushed to the end of that week. I expressed my disappointment with the drawn-out process. Over a week later, they finally told me I wasn't getting the job. This is especially frustrating because I turned down other postdoc opportunities to wait for this specific position. It's quite disappointing that ISB delayed their decision for so long, impacting my career choices.
- Can you tell us about your research plan?
