Got contacted on LinkedIn. Took about 3 weeks. Interviewed at Instart in April-May 2018. It was a clear process, started with a video call to talk about my background and get a feel for the role and Instart. Then, I had a weekend assignment. After that, I had 1:1s with different people, some online with the US Marketing team, and three in-person meetings at the Bangalore office. Everyone was really nice and we had great chats. I took the offer because I saw potential in the role and company, which is a fast-growing product company.

Had a couple of phone interviews first. Then they flew me out to HQ for a half-day of interviews. I was a bit late for the onsite interviews, maybe 5-10 minutes, because my flight was delayed, and they really came down on me for it. The interviewer had no sympathy and didn't seem to get that it was out of my control. I suggested we could just end things right there a few minutes into our talk, but he insisted I meet everyone on the schedule since they'd paid for my flight. I ended up having to go through with it, apologizing a few times, and sat through a really unprofessional sales manager interview. Honestly, with that guy leading sales, they won't hit their 10% market share goal. People buy from people they like, and I'd personally invest in Akamai any day over working with him.

The interview process is pretty standard for software engineering roles, and they are quick to schedule and make decisions if you're available and prepared. It starts with a recruiter call where they give an overview of the company and their roadmap, and ask about the roles you're interested in. Then, there's a phone screen, which is usually with an engineer, but in my case, it was with the hiring manager. The next step is the onsite, which consists of five or six 45-minute interviews. Four of these focus on algorithms and coding, one is a system design question, and you also have to describe your current project on a whiteboard, especially if it's relevant to the team's work.
