It started with a Zoom call with the recruiter. The vibe felt off; they just looked at my resume and asked the first question right away, without introducing the company or themselves, and seemed disinterested. After that, there was a skills test, and if you passed, a Zoom call with the marketing team. I didn't get to the third round, but the overall vibe was a bit strange.

The interview process was straightforward. I applied online and answered questions about my suitability. After my application was reviewed, I had a quick 15-20 minute Zoom call with a team member where they asked about 6-8 behavioral questions. It felt fast-paced and a little intimidating, but it was very direct.

I got picked for an interview and set up a good time with an Insomniac recruiter through texting. The interview was over the phone, not video. The interviewer was nice but really corporate, and I thought it went well. They mentioned a second interview, but then ghosted me for two weeks. I finally emailed them, and just got an auto-reply saying I didn't get the job, even though they said I had another interview? Really bad communication.

The interview process took about a month, mostly due to scheduling issues and a lack of alignment between the recruiter and manager. My HR screening was rescheduled once, and my interview with the hiring manager was rescheduled three times. During one attempt, I waited 15 minutes on Zoom only to be told the manager was unavailable. Another time, I received a conflicting reschedule invite for an interview that was already set for two different days. The interaction with the hiring manager felt unprofessional; they lectured me for about 20 minutes on the importance of their specialty and suggested I needed to learn more if I wanted to stay in the industry, despite my background being in a different field. This condescending experience made it clear my skills weren't a fit. It's understandable why the role has been open for three months, given the scheduling problems and the unprofessional hiring manager.
