Had 3 virtual interviews. The interviewers were nice and easy to talk to, but it felt like the company was a little disorganized. There wasn't a clear timeline for hearing back, and I wasn't sure if there'd be another interview or when they'd expect someone to start.

The review I saw is spot on. I had 4 interviews over 2 months at Insight Editions. It started with a phone call to see if we clicked and if I wanted the job. Then, an in-person interview where they asked about my resume. They told me in the third and fourth interviews that the job was already filled, but they thought I'd be good for a sales role because they liked my personality. I asked what a sales job would look like, but they didn't have details. I always emailed thank yous after each interview and said I was looking forward to hearing back, but got no reply. About a week after I sent ANOTHER email, the recruiter would send a short message telling me when the next interview was. After interviewing for nearly two months, they told me to wait a few more weeks for the sales team to get back from showing products. I get that formal interviews take time, but being put off for almost two months for interviews and seeing others get hired while I was still interviewing felt unprofessional. Also, not responding to emails quickly leaves candidates wondering if they'll even get the job. The whole process felt weird. Most jobs tell you when they want to hire you, not keep delaying and saying you'll start later while people with fewer interviews start right away. Sadly, I never heard back even though they said multiple times they were going to hire me...

I submitted my application on LinkedIn. Shortly after, I received a call to schedule a phone interview with the associate publisher, which went well. Next, I was invited for a second interview at their office a week later. To my surprise, I was informed I'd have to cover my own flight costs. Upon arrival in San Francisco, a warehouse employee picked me up and drove me to San Rafael. I waited in an empty conference room for a long time to meet the staff I'd report to. The office was chaotic, with people rushing due to a deadline before a morning manufacturing trip. The two managers spoke with me for about five minutes before leaving for another meeting. I was also supposed to meet the CEO, but he was unavailable. A follow-up Skype interview was promised for the next week but never materialized. I spent over $400 on this interview process and felt mistreated. After three weeks with no response, not even a rejection email, I realized the relationship wouldn't improve if an offer were made.

HR hit me up about a week after I applied online. We did an initial phone call, and then decided on a video interview done face-to-face. I talked to two senior people, one from production. HR told me there were some staff changes happening and we put my application on hold for about a month. Insight Editions was cool if I got another job offer in the meantime, but they were still interested in me. HR contacted me right after they sorted out their staffing stuff, about a week earlier than I thought. My boss and HR did the final interview. They offered me the job later that day. Other than the long break between interviews, it was pretty chill and nice. They explained the delay, which they didn't have to do. I liked that they were considerate with my application.
