Inovio Biomedical Interview Questions
& Process

I went through three interviews with INOVIO, and the whole thing took about 5 weeks. The first chat was with the team leader for about 30 minutes to see if my background and experience were a good fit. Then, I had a much longer second interview that ran from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. I met with 8 people I'd be working with, each for 30-45 minutes, and I also had to give a presentation. It was a long day, but everyone was really nice and talked about their interesting and challenging projects. I still hadn't spoken with HR at this point. The third interview was with an HR director, and they mentioned they don't sponsor anyone and haven't hired non-citizens or green card holders before. A week later, I got rejected, even though the first two interviews seemed really positive and I felt my skills were a good match. It's frustrating they didn't mention the international hiring policy upfront. The technical teams seemed great, but the HR part was disappointing.

The interview process started with a Skype call where they asked me about OOP concepts and gave me a coding question. Then, I had an on-site interview with three people. It felt pretty disorganized, and they didn't seem to have any relevant projects for interns. They even mentioned I'd be working on different things than what was in the job description. One interviewer challenged my answers, even when I was correct, and questioned what my professors were teaching me. They also rushed me to interview within a week of the Skype call, despite my midterm schedule, because they needed to hire an intern quickly. After all that, I didn't hear back for another month.

The hiring process was pretty fast after I applied on their website. About a week later, I had my first phone interview with someone who seemed to be in a similar role, acting as a screener. The following week, I had a second phone interview with the head of the Clinical Trainers. Everything went smoothly, and I thought it was heading towards an in-person interview. However, while I was interviewing, they had already extended an offer to someone else who ended up accepting the job. So, basically, I got ghosted and put on hold to see if that other candidate would accept before they decided to bring me in.

The interview process was very efficient, timely and well organized. Emails and phone calls were always on time and I felt like the employees were very dependable. Overall, very pleased by the friendliness and professionalism demonstrated by the employees of the company.
