First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Innovative Systems.
Software Engineer
I went through two interview rounds with 5 interviewers in total, all at the manager or director level. It felt a bit lacking in diversity with everyone being white men from South Dakota, though I didn't explicitly ask about it. The interviews were mainly behavioral, with a few very simple technical questions thrown in. They seemed accustomed to interviewing and hiring for in-person roles straight from local colleges, and there might be a gap between the new private equity management and the main team.
- Can you share three words that others would use to describe you?
Software Support Analyst
The recruiter was dishonest. She emailed me saying I wasn't qualified and lacked the necessary technical experience. An aptitude test was supposed to happen, but I never got it. When I asked if she reviewed my resume's portfolio, she said no. She claimed I wasn't qualified despite my portfolio showing I have the required skills. They interview people without actually reading their resumes or doing any research on them. This company's HR department is disorganized and untrustworthy; they seem to lack knowledge about technology and proper interviewing techniques.
- Can you share an instance where you exceeded expectations to help a customer?
Software Delivery Consultant
I found this company at a job fair and proceeded to interview with 2 of the employees. I got a call to visit and went to Pittsburgh at the HQ. A panel of 3 interviewed me before calling a week later requesting I come back in for a skills test on PowerShell and email etiquette. The next week I got a call to visit with the head of the department I would be working in. We met that day and it was a month before I heard anything in which they said they were moving forward with someone else.
- What makes you want to be considered for this role?
Sales Representative
You'll have a few phone interviews before they bring you in to meet the staff. They do ask a lot to prepare prospective employees because they want to be sure you're a good fit for the company culture. Ultimately very approachable people that want you to feel comfortable and be honest about your ideas for your future.
- In five years, where do you see your career?
