Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at InMobi.
Sales Manager
It was pretty straightforward, with 2 interview rounds and 2 HR rounds. They mainly asked scenario-based questions, and tested my knowledge of the programmatic ecosystem and rich media solutions.
- Can you share your greatest accomplishments and the strategies you used to achieve them?
Sales Manager
The interview process for this Consultative Sales position was exceptionally long and drawn out, spanning over two months and involving six different interviewers from InMobi, including co-founders, the Marketing Head, and the Business Head. Throughout these interviews, it became evident that there was a significant lack of clarity from InMobi's management regarding the specific sales profile they were looking for. Each interviewer presented a different idea of the ideal candidate for the role. The Business Head, in particular, seemed unwilling to answer straightforward questions about the position and the company's investment in training for their new 'Marketing Cloud' product. Despite recognizing these as potential red flags, I continued due to the busy schedules of the top management, InMobi's brand reputation, and an expectation of professionalism. However, the process concluded unprofessionally when the recruiter, who had previously shared every detail, sent a WhatsApp message stating my candidature would not be moving forward, shortly after requesting salary slips and an offer letter. Attempts to understand the reasons for this decision were met with avoidance, as the recruiter stopped taking my calls. This entire experience, marked by a lack of clarity on role expectations and a deficiency in professionalism from the recruiter, left a very negative impression of InMobi.
- Let's role play: imagine I'm a potential customer for your previous employer's product, and you need to pitch it to me.
Sales Manager
So, the HR people don't really give you a clear idea of what the interview process is. At the very least, they should tell you how it's gonna go. HR often gives out the wrong job description and then expects you to do random interviews. It's tough for candidates when the organization is so disorganized in how they work. The sales interview felt more like a marketing one, honestly.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe your contributions to brand positioning development.
- How would you handle specific situations?
