First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Inman News.
Director
The interview was okay. I was annoyed by interruptions, which is rude and unprofessional. There doesn't seem to be teamwork here. The role is basically you; the interviewer couldn't explain the team structure and kept saying you're responsible for others' work on your projects. You delegate but have no direct reports. Don't waste your time. The interviewer failed. I couldn't wait for it to be over. My question about their management style got the response that communication only happens if something's wrong.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- How would you take on the "director" responsibilities in this position?
News and Content Writer
I went through two phone interviews and was given an edit test. After that, I was ghosted by both people I spoke with. I had to send multiple emails over a month to find out I didn't get the job. It was super unprofessional and disrespectful.
- Why are you interested in this role?
Business Development
Everything they told me about this job was false. They said it was a great place to work with a great team, and several team members confirmed this. But in reality, everyone is bitter and seems to dislike the President, leading to very bad morale.
- They wanted me to take the job right away and really pressured me to accept the position.
Director
I met with two senior people, one of them the CEO, and it was a chill but to-the-point talk. I felt like we clicked and they said I'd be great for the role and were excited to work together. But, like some others noted, then I got ghosted. No response at all, even after I sent thank yous and a few follow-ups asking about the job status. It really doesn't take much to reply, and I thought that was super unprofessional.
- Can you walk me through your background and experience?
