Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ingenico.
Software Developer
A recruiter reached out about this role. I went through three interview rounds: two technical and one behavioral. Everything was conducted online via Microsoft Teams. The entire process wrapped up in about two weeks.
- Could you discuss object-oriented concepts?
- Tell me about your experience with design patterns.
Software Engineer
First, you'll have to take an online exam. It's 30 min long with 22 questions, mostly about guessing the output of Java code. You need 50% to pass. Then, there are 3 interview rounds. Round 1 is technical (45 min) with basic OOP and tricky Java code output questions. Round 2 is with the manager (30 min), covering past job experience and some technical stuff. After that, HR called about a JD change and asked if I was still interested. I said yes because the new JD fit my skills. Round 3 is with the Director (1 hr), mostly system design scenarios where you have to propose a high-level design. After that, I was ghosted by the recruiter, and even a follow-up email got no reply. Super unprofessional, they should at least tell candidates the result.
- Can you explain the difference between TCP and HTTP?
- What is the difference between association and aggregation in Java?
- Is it possible to overload a method by just changing the return type?
Software Engineer
First, there was a simple chat with a recruiter. Then, about three weeks later, I interviewed with the team manager and HR. We talked about working hours, team culture, and what my day-to-day tasks would involve. No specific questions were asked during this part, the manager was really nice, but the HR person seemed uninterested or unhappy to be there.
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
- What motivates your interest in this specific role?
