Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at ING.
Development Manager
It was a 2-stage process. First, an initial easy chat with the Recruiter. Then, a conversation about the domain, with some basic screening questions. Finally, a Manager interview where I was asked many questions about my previous experience in learning and development.
- What is driving your interest in this role?
- Could you share your background in learning and development?
- How have you handled situations related to [domain specific topic] in your past roles?
Risk Manager
The interview panel was extremely unprofessional. I noticed body language like frustration, sighing, typing on a laptop, watching the clock, and making mocking gestures towards another panel member. They also asked questions completely unrelated to the Senior Risk Manager role. The interviewer yawned and chatted online, showing very unprofessional behavior. This is my second time interviewing with them, and despite a different panel, the unprofessionalism was consistent and obvious, suggesting it's part of their company culture.
- The questions were suitable for an entry-level security position, not for a Senior Risk Manager role, and were asked unprofessionally by someone claiming to be from the Netherlands.
Office Manager
The recruiter started out super friendly, but then as the interview went on, I felt like they were actively discouraging me from joining. It was weird, this was the first time they spent the interview talking about negative aspects of the company, like how I wouldn't grow there professionally and that there's no job stability. I didn't really get why they'd do that, especially since I kept saying I was confident I could handle the responsibilities they brought up, using examples from my past experience where I dealt with similar issues. It felt like they had already decided on someone else before I even interviewed.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- What are your hobbies?
