First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Infoverity.
Data Engineer Intern
The first part was more personal, focusing on my interests in university, personal projects, and future preferences. Then we talked about the company, and finally, I was allowed to ask some questions about projects and how the position works.
- Tell me about your personal projects.
- What are your plans for the future?
- Are you available for an internship through the university?
Consultant
Interviews were average for 2-3 years of experience in the data management space. Included some technical whiteboarding/designing. My first interview felt more generic, second was very technical, third was a final vibe check from upper mgmt.
- Walk me through the solutions you’ve built and supported, detailing your role throughout the entire lifecycle.
Software Engineer
I applied through a staffing company for a 6-month contract-to-hire role. The interview process was pretty standard, maybe more simplified for a contract. First, a phone screen with the staffing recruiter, then another phone screen with Infoverity's HR. The third interview was in-person with a team engineer and the CTO. The fourth was an in-person live coding exercise with two more engineers. The first three interviews were chill, mostly about my experience and projects, with the CTO asking some technical questions. But the fourth round's coding exercise felt unreasonable for a mid-level role with only 3 YOE, especially since I'm seeing roles needing 5-7 YOE elsewhere. They wanted a Java Spring Boot microservice with good architecture and a data manipulation logic problem, all in under an hour. The logic part was like a Leetcode medium/hard. I needed clarification during the exercise. It wasn't impossible, but a lot for a live panel and short time. It seems like they weren't aligned on the engineer level they needed. I also worried the coding exercise might be for free work. On the plus side, they got back to me fast after each interview.
- Under what management style do you perform best?
- Could you provide a detailed account of a project you've undertaken, including its architectural design?
- What are some methods you employ to guarantee the security of your applications?
Legal
The whole process was super long and took up so much of my time. I had to take half a day off for the fourth interview. After that, they gave me a job offer. We had talked about my salary expectations during the first interview and they said it was okay with their budget. But then, the offer came in $15k lower than we discussed. I asked for just $1k more, and they took back the offer. It was a lot of time and effort spent.
- They asked some standard interview questions; nothing out of the ordinary.
