The interview process is a bit much. Initially, there's an online logic quiz. If you pass that, they make you retake it on video to ensure it's you. Then, you have to analyze a dataset and create a presentation, all before talking to the hiring manager. The first time you'd meet people you'd work with is when you present your findings. For me, the dataset was about beer purchases and was quite raw, needing significant cleaning before analysis. I asked the recruiter if cleaning was part of the task or if we should assume the data was clean. They wanted the data cleaned. With errors like SKUs assigned to wrong products, missing SKUs for identical products, and non-beer items, it would take 5-10 hours of cleaning to trust the data. The errors were so varied that it required a lot of manual work, like what an intern or junior staff would do. This type of task is really out of sync for this role. My spouse is a recruiter, and I know this kind of assignment is usually for entry-level or junior roles. In market research/consulting, experienced people have plenty of options. I bet Infoscout loses a lot of good candidates because they're out of touch with hiring realities.

Technical Case Presentation

I applied for a Consultant role online. It started with a phone interview with HR. Then, I had two take-home tests. After that, I had to retake the tests with HR watching to make sure it was me doing the work. I passed those, and then had a 1:1 phone interview with the hiring manager. Next, I was given a case study to complete and present to the NY team. I was expecting to hear back by Friday, but I never did. I tried reaching out to HR by email and phone, but nobody got back to me. I guess that means I didn't get the job. It would have been nice if they had at least let me know they weren't moving forward.

The interview process was pretty thorough, with several rounds leading all the way up to the CEO, and it moved pretty fast overall. If you get past the initial stages, they'll hit you with a challenging case study that needs solid analytical and strategic thinking. They seem to do this to make sure you really get the role and so InfoScout can get a good sense of your skills and if you'd fit in. All in all, a good experience with some really smart, professional, and friendly people.
