Big Data Developer
The interview process here was pretty long, I had about 4-5 rounds in total. They were all focused on data structures and algorithms. The first three rounds were with senior engineers, and the last one was with the CTO.
- Could you write the code for heap sort?
Big Data Engineer
So first there was an online aptitude test, which was pretty easy compared to other companies and the cutoff was about 70%, which wasn't too hard to hit. After that, we had a group discussion, which felt like a formality but some people did get cut. Then there was a face-to-face interview, usually 30-45 minutes, but mine was done in about 20. They asked me a coding question about finding the longest increasing substring in a string, and then some questions about HDFS and MapReduce. There were also two puzzle questions, which were easy, and the interviewer even helped me solve them.
- Can you find the longest increasing substring within a given string?
- Could you explain what HDFS is?
- What is MapReduce?
Big Data Developer
So the process was pretty straightforward, starting with a group discussion, then two technical interviews. We had 18 people selected for the second round. They grouped us into threes for interviews and picked one person from each group for the next stage. I was really let down by the interviewer because they didn't ask anything related to my background. I'm into Big Data and currently taking a course where I've worked a lot with R, which I thought would be a plus. They asked basic questions like if I had any Big Data projects. I mentioned my course and that I'd learned about the Map Reduce algorithm.
- Could you explain Map Reduce?
- What distinguishes Machine Learning from Deep Learning?
- How would you go about adding two Big Integers?
