I got a phone interview pretty soon after applying, it felt like a check-in. Then, about a week later, they sent a test edit that I had 48 hours to finish. Two weeks after the first call, I went in for an in-person chat with a recruiter and a Client Services manager, it was pretty relaxed. After that, they sent another timed edit, this one more technical. A week later, I heard they chose someone else.

It definitely wasn't a standard interview. The interviewer seemed either really new to this or they had already picked someone. The whole process had about 5-6 questions. Afterwards, they just kept asking if I had any questions for them and gave really brief answers. For instance, when I asked about a typical day for an editor, the answer was just "meet with clients." Most of the questions were about my thoughts on their company and content marketing, and they barely asked about my skills, experience, and how they'd fit the job.

I went through two interviews for this job. The first was with my direct supervisor, and the second was with a group of three people: another editor, someone from HR, and a client services manager. Neither interview felt like it had tricky or standard questions. They mostly talked about the job, the company, its culture, and what ICo. is working on now and planning for the future. Then, they straightforwardly and generously tried to figure out if I'd be a good fit for all of that. The interviewers were really thoughtful and nice, super dedicated to the company and the people there, and seemed genuinely excited about their work. Their questions definitely made me think, so they weren't 'easy' in that way, but I never felt put on the spot. They're smart, committed, and kind folks, just looking to hire more people like them.
