it was casual but was clearly a serious process, they were clear about what the job requirements are and next steps in terms of interview process, first talk with recruiter then some higher management then final round with senior leads, meetings were half talking about your portfolio and work history and half asking questions to each other to gauge potential fit

First, I had a chat with the recruiter about salary and company perks. Then, I interviewed with lead environment artists from LA, followed by Art Directors from LA. The final interview was with a lead environment artist from Krakow. All the interviews were pretty similar. They had three parts: first, a discussion about my career in video games; second, a review of my portfolio where I had to show my best pieces and explain why; and third, a chance for me to ask questions about the project and company. In the last interview, the lead showed me a prop and an environment and asked for my ideas on how to make them better.

The whole thing took about 1.5 months, which felt like forever. They sent me a test via email, which I did over 4 days. After that, I waited over two weeks for another interview round. Then, silence for 3 weeks, even though I followed up politely every week and they just ignored me. Honestly, after taking the time to do their test and being weeks into the process, I expected some response, like 'results in 3 weeks'. But nothing. It was like waiting forever. Finally, after 3 weeks, I got a short email saying the job was filled. Even though it was a rejection for my dream job, that short email was a relief because the waiting was finally over.

The process had 2 coding interviews. The first was online via HireVue, and the second was a Zoom call. The Zoom call experience was terrible, starting with the interviewer saying they were very angry and that I was a third of the reason why, because I was the first of three people they had to interview that day. It was a really negative experience, and I'm glad they didn't proceed with me.
