Sales
I usually don't do this, but I was really disappointed with my recent interview experience with this company. I was flown out for a sales position, and the whole process was chaotic. It seemed like nobody knew what was going on or had details about the job. My interviewer kept checking her phone, was rude and condescending, and even implied not everyone would be a "CULTURAL FIT." When I asked what she meant, she said Indigo isn't for everyone. I then asked about their Diversity and Inclusion policy, and she said they weren't too concerned about that right now, focusing instead on making farmers and customers happy. For context, I'm a Caucasian male with two adopted daughters from Haiti. After the interview, I researched the company and couldn't find their D&I strategy or advisor. Their culture video on YouTube also only featured white people, and I couldn't find any POC in leadership in 2019. I'm not accusing anyone of racism, but during my interview day, I met with only white men and one white woman, and all candidates were white males. The interviewers were also unapologetic about their political views. For a company being called an innovative disruptor, it's disappointing their hiring practices don't reflect their stated values and mission.

Inside Sales Representative
The interview process at Indigo is super long and drawn out. I got an email in early May to do a HireVue, which is kind of awkward and I don't see how they can judge talent from it. Weeks go by and I have to follow up a couple of times. Then they called me in for a face-to-face interview, but then they rescheduled it via email and said it would be a phone interview instead. I waited for the call and it never came. I had to follow up again. Then the recruiter emailed saying they want me to come in for an interview. I set a date and time, thinking this would be it. But then another recruiter emailed to reschedule again. I just ignored that email and went in on the originally scheduled date. The first person I interviewed with mentioned the job is base plus commission and then warned me not to ask about pay. The other interviewers were nice and all asked about pay, but I was too awkward to respond. The last interviewer was completely out there, trying a super unconventional approach. The sales manager and recruiter said they'd let me know within five days, showing respect for my time. It's been over a month and I haven't heard anything, so I'm assuming I didn't get the job and I've already accepted another offer. I've been in sales for years and never experienced anything like this. Companies should have more respect for people's time and not try to intimidate candidates out of asking about pay.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join Indigo?
Inside Sales Representative
So the interview process involved an online video interview with some tricky questions. Then there was a long, four-hour in-person interview where I met a bunch of people from the company. This included someone from the People team, the head of the department I was interviewing for, and two other lead members from that department.
