Indiana Institute of Technology Interview Questions
& Process

I had an on-campus interview at Indiana Tech in March 2024. It involved travel and significant prep, including a presentation. I had to take time away from my teaching and family responsibilities. After the visit, they emailed me to say the position was postponed to the next academic year. The email was polite, but the timing was tough given the travel and preparation effort. It would be better if they could confirm early on if a position is definitely proceeding to help make the process smoother for everyone.

I applied online with my resume, cover letter and references. About three weeks later, I got an interview. It was with a committee of three people, some of whom I knew. The first interview lasted about 45 minutes. After that, we went to lunch, I toured the facility, and then had a meeting about benefits and any last questions. I thought it went well, but heard from a friend that they hired someone from inside the company. A few weeks later, I got a rejection letter. I wouldn't have applied if I'd known they were considering internal candidates, as they seem to really favor them.

It's a pretty chill interview process. They call you when they're ready. You'll have several interviews. They don't tell you how you did or when the next step is unless you ask. The interviews are long, but that doesn't necessarily mean they went well, they just like to talk. Make sure to ask about the next steps!

The hiring process was pretty simple. They asked me about my education and work history to make sure I could teach the courses. They also asked what I thought I could contribute to the class as an instructor.
